The Aspen Art Museum stands as Spearhead’s inaugural project with Shigeru Ban Architects, solidifying a strong partnership that has led to numerous subsequent collaborations. Serving as the fabrication consultant, fabricator, and installation partner, Spearhead played a crucial role in the project's success. Our scope included the long-span timber space-frame roof system and its supporting steel structure, requiring a meticulous and coordinated effort to address complex interface details specific to glazing, envelope, MEP, and other interfacing systems. The result is an outstanding example of integrated design, highlighting Spearhead's unique capabilities in freeform timber fabrication.

"I have been working with Spearhead for over twenty years. The nature of our collaborations, which involve the simultaneous consideration of craft, fabrication, assembly, design, and structural analysis, has come to epitomize for me the ideal design process, and I use their example repeatedly in public presentations promoting effective design. It does not hurt that the combination of their technical mastery with personal good humor has made those collaborations not only the most effective of my career, but also the most enjoyable."
