The Temple of Light, designed by Patkau Architects, serves as an exemplary illustration of how material properties—specifically wood—can inform design. Each petal of the temple constitutes a ruled surface, enabling the prefabrication of compound curvature using straight elements. Spearhead played a significant role in the project, initially engaging in a Design Assist capacity to inform the build strategy, followed by off-site fabrication of elements, and finally, the installation of the complete structural system.

"Spearhead is a fabulous design-assist, digital wood and steel fabrication company that is a joy to work with. Patkau Architects has completed 2 projects with Spearhead — the Temple of Light on Kootenay Lake in British Columbia and the Kiweki Point pavilion in the parliamentary precinct in Ottawa. Both projects are immeasurably better thanks to Spearhead."
